Yes, he hates to be called a Goth.  But we, in the trade, know that the very Gothest of the Goths do not call themselves a ‘Goth’.  I have no doubt that he was sitting in this tree when he wrote ‘A Forest’.  I mean, really: “Come closer and see, see into the trees”, see that I’m up a tree that is being hugged by a Goth compatible wife while branches hold my jacket up in weird angles.  That’s how the original lyrics could have gone, I believe. I like how his foot is dangling so you can get a clear view of his boot.  I like how he’s looking down at us plebs through the angle between his arm and the tree.  Points deducted for daylight but I feel, in the circumstances, that Robert Smith gets bonus points for being so Goth he denies being a Goth. 5 out of 5 - Come closer and see, see Robert Smith up a tree You were right, Dorina.  That tag is going to get a workout.

I say ‘like’ a lot. I’m from California, y’know?

This amused me a lot.  I was once in a dive bar, talking to a totally douchetastic friend of one of my guy friends, and got, “So you want to slip into the bathroom and jerk me off?” Now, I was married at the time, my husband was there, and the guy friend *and* my husband would have put their fists all the way through his face and out the back of his empty skull had they known, but it was really much more effective to laugh in his face.  So I did.  This is a guy that joins sites like EHarmony and marks 5 (middle of the road) on all the questions so he’s matched up with basically every girl, picks all the hot ones, and schedules as many one-night stands as possible that way.

He told my friend later that I was an ugly bitch.  I’m a little proud of that.
